Cookie Policy

This policy explains cookies and similar browser storage used by Gencyh. Cookies are small pieces of information stored by a browser; local storage is a separate browser feature that can remember preferences.

Your theme preference

The public website stores a value named theme in local storage when you choose light or dark mode. It remembers that choice on later visits. It is not an advertising identifier and is not sent to us by the theme control.

Local storage has no automatic expiry set by the website. The preference remains until you replace it, clear the site's browser storage or your browser removes it. Without a saved choice, the website starts in light mode.

Necessary administrator sign-in cookie

The private administrator dashboard uses a cookie named gencyh_rt to maintain an authorised sign-in session through the authentication service. It is intended for administrators, not for registering visitors to the free tools.

The cookie is unavailable to ordinary page scripts and is configured for secure transmission in production. Its expiry follows the configured sign-in session period; signing out clears the cookie for that browser session. Clearing or blocking it can prevent administrator sign-in from working.

Session duration and cookie domain settings depend on the deployed authentication configuration. Contact us if you need the specific session duration applicable to an administrator account.

Analytics and advertising cookies

Google's consent system may be enabled on public pages to provide privacy choices even when advertising is not displayed. Ads may be displayed on selected tool pages. Google and its partners may place or read cookies and use other identifiers for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention and, where permitted, personalisation.

When Google's Privacy & Messaging consent system is enabled, it handles applicable consent choices, including the EEA, UK and Switzerland. Advertising requests wait for the consent system; where consent is required, refusing Google's device-storage consent prevents our ad requests. Non-personalised advertising is not automatically cookie-free. Consent preferences may themselves be stored by the consent provider to remember your choices.

When Google Analytics 4 is enabled and analytics consent is granted, it can use _ga and _ga_ prefixed cookies to distinguish visits and maintain session information. Cookie duration depends on the configured Google Analytics settings. Its tag and our usage events are blocked until explicit consent is available. Withdrawing consent stops our tracking and removes the Analytics cookies used by this integration. No Meta or TikTok pixel is installed; offering marketing services does not mean those pixels are installed here.

Use Privacy and cookie settings in the footer when this control is available to reopen Google's consent message and change or withdraw your choices. Google and participating vendors provide additional personalisation controls. Cookie names, duration and the partners involved can vary with the enabled advertising and consent settings; review the provider information and the consent message for those details.

Third-party services

Weather lookups, email handling and administrative storage involve the providers described in our Privacy Policy. These server-side functions do not, by themselves, install advertising cookies in a visitor's browser.

External websites and any separately offered SaaS products may use their own cookies. Their notices should explain those uses when you visit or use them.

Managing browser storage

You can inspect, delete or block cookies and site storage in your browser settings. Deleting site storage resets the saved theme. Clearing authentication cookies can sign an administrator out.

Browser controls may also affect storage used by third-party sites. Blocking a cookie does not delete information already held by a service provider. For questions or privacy requests, contact Gencyh at gencyhai@gmail.com.
