Why the calculator shows a range
Amazon does not set every inbound placement charge from size and weight alone. The exact amount can depend on the inbound locations selected for the shipping plan. Showing a single invented number before that plan exists would be misleading.
For minimal shipment splits, this tool returns the current published per-unit range for the calculated product tier and shipping-weight band. For current Bulky inventory, it can also use Amazon’s published partial-split range. Once Seller Central shows an exact quote, switch to the exact-quote option to calculate the shipment total.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Amazon FBA inbound placement service fee?
It is a per-unit fee that can apply when Amazon places inbound FBA inventory across its network under certain shipment-split options. The amount depends on factors including product size, shipping weight and inbound locations.
Can this calculator give the exact placement fee before I create a shipping plan?
Not truthfully in every case. Amazon's exact fee can vary by the shipping plan and inbound locations, so the minimal-split mode shows the current published range. If Seller Central already gives you an exact per-unit quote, use the exact-quote mode.
Are partial shipment splits available for every product size?
No. Under Amazon's current inbound placement program, partial shipment splits are for Bulky-sized inventory. The calculator validates the product tier and will not apply a partial-split rate to standard-size inventory.
Is Amazon-optimized shipment splitting free of the inbound placement fee?
When the Amazon-optimized shipment split option is offered and its requirements are met, the inbound placement service fee is zero. Other inbound transportation costs are separate.
Does the inbound placement service fee apply to Extra-Large products?
Amazon's current inbound placement service fee documentation excludes Extra-Large products. The calculator therefore returns zero for that fee when the entered package classifies as Extra-Large.
Does dimensional weight affect this estimate?
It can. The calculator uses the same packaged size-tier and shipping-weight logic as the site's Amazon FBA calculator, including dimensional-weight rules for applicable larger tiers.
