Why fee and profit belong together here
Mercari's current US seller fee is a flat 10% of the item price plus buyer-paid shipping. Because the seller fee itself is simple, splitting it into separate fee and profit pages would add little value for the user.
This calculator therefore keeps one purpose: show what the sale actually leaves you after Mercari's seller fee and the costs you enter. The buyer's current protection fee is shown separately for pricing context and is not deducted from seller proceeds.
Shipping is kept explicit
Buyer-paid shipping and the shipping cost you personally pay are different inputs. If the buyer pays a shipping amount that is included in the order, it is part of Mercari's seller-fee base. If you absorb a shipping charge yourself, enter that separately as your cost.
The break-even item price is the estimated item price where the modeled sale reaches zero net profit while the shipping assumptions you entered stay the same.
