How much does Mercari take from a sale?
Under the current supported US structure, the seller fee is 10% of the item price plus buyer-paid shipping. Enter the sale amounts to see the estimated seller fee and payout before your own costs are deducted.

Mercari payout, profit and profit margin
Payout is the amount remaining after the estimated Mercari seller fee. Net profit goes one step further by subtracting the seller costs you entered. Profit margin compares that net profit with the sale revenue so a high-dollar sale and a low-dollar sale can be compared on the same percentage basis.
The break-even item price works backwards to the approximate item price where the estimated net profit reaches zero while the shipping setup and costs you entered stay the same.
Buyer-paid shipping vs free shipping on Mercari
When the buyer pays shipping, that amount can be part of the seller-fee base. When you offer free shipping, set buyer-paid shipping to zero and enter the shipping cost you expect to absorb as a seller cost.
The buyer protection fee is separate from seller profit in this calculator because it is charged to the buyer rather than deducted from the seller payout under the current fee structure.
Worked example: Mercari seller payout versus profit

For a $100 item with $10 buyer-paid shipping, the modeled fee base is $110. A 10% seller fee is $11, leaving $99 in seller payout. With $50 product cost and $7 shipping expense, net profit is $42. The separately displayed buyer protection fee is $3.96.
